I was born in New York City and then I resided in various cities along the East Coast of the United States. I have one son who is 28 years old and is living in the US. Although my husband and I met as students in Paris, we had not lived long-term in another country since our college days. 
When my husband was offered a job opportunity in Amsterdam, we decided to take the leap and embark on a new chapter in our lives. I retired from teaching and we sold our house in northern Virginia where we had lived for 26 years. We moved to Amsterdam during one of the lockdown periods over two years ago. 
Moving during a pandemic does have its challenges, but we were able to freely explore the city while there were few tourists. However, it was very difficult to meet new friends. Joining the club made the transition so much easier. The club has helped me to meet new friends, explore the Netherlands and other countries, and try new activities. 
As Membership Officer, I would like to welcome other new members as warmly as I was welcomed. I would like to help them meet other members and aid them in forming friendships.
